In an exciting and forward-looking development, the cricketing fraternity in Egypt had the honor of engaging in a strategic and insightful call with Mr. Justine Ligyalingi, the ICC Africa Development Manager. This call was not just a discussion—it was the start of a transformative journey that aims to put Egyptian cricket on the world map.

Key Highlights of the Meeting:

  1. ICC Membership Application Briefing:
Mr. Ligyalingi clearly outlined the step-by-step process of how Egypt can apply for ICC Associate Membership, opening the door to new possibilities, global recognition, and long-term growth.

  2. Understanding the Requirements:
The team was briefed on the key criteria and documentation needed to apply, from forming a national cricket federation to aligning with ICC governance structures.

  3. Unlocking ICC Opportunities:
ICC Associate Members enjoy several development, funding, and competition opportunities. This call served as a motivational reminder that Egypt is on the path to unlocking those doors.

  4. Guidance on Forming a Recognized Federation:
The formation of a legitimate, inclusive, and structured national body is a crucial step. Mr. Ligyalingi and the ICC Africa regional team have committed to mentoring and guiding Team Egypt through this foundational phase.

A Vision Backed by Action

While we now await the confirmation of a working visit by ICC Africa to Egypt, Mr. Ligyalingi emphasized the importance of confirming the meeting dates early, so that both ICC and ACA (Africa Cricket Association) can make necessary preparations to support this initiative with full strength.

This visit is expected to be a game-changer. It will provide the much-needed structure, face-to-face guidance, and validation from cricket’s highest development bodies.

A New Era of Cricket in Egypt

This moment represents hope, direction, and unity. For a long time, cricket in Egypt has been driven by passion, community effort, and love for the sport. Now, with ICC Africa's support and a clear roadmap, we are moving toward building a professional and internationally connected cricket ecosystem in the country.

The journey may not be easy, but with consistent effort, collaboration, and vision, Egypt will rise as a proud member of the international cricketing family.
