This development signals the ICC’s commitment to growing cricket in Africa and ensuring Egypt plays a central role on the continental stage. With cricket confirmed for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, the ICC is also working hard to include cricket in the 2027 African Games in Cairo, bringing the sport closer to millions of new fans.

Sir Mohamed Mansour’s visionary leadership, business excellence, and proven track record in sports investment across Egypt, Ghana, Denmark, and the UK make this appointment both strategic and transformational. His chairmanship promises to unite stakeholders, strengthen cricket infrastructure, and build a strong foundation for the sport’s future in Egypt.

The ICC will send a delegation to Egypt in September 2025 to align with national stakeholders and explore opportunities, including the potential development of a cricket venue in Cairo that could host international events and leave a lasting legacy.

This is a proud moment for Egypt as it embraces a global sport with more than 2 billion fans worldwide, and all eyes will now be on the journey towards the 2027 African Games.
