Official Formation of the Cricket Committee of Egypt Under the General Egyptian Sports for All Federation

A landmark meeting took place at the General Egyptian Sports for All Federation, in the esteemed presence of Dr. Emad Elbannany, President of the Federation, alongside:

• Mr. Mohammad Arshad Raza – Vice President & General Secretary, Cricket Community in Egypt (CCE)

• Mr. Ashish Walia – Chairman, Cricket Community in Egypt (CCE)

• Sir Mohamed Mansour — Egyptian‑British billionaire, Chairman of Mansour Group (a US $6 billion conglomerate), former Transport Minister (2005‑09), recently knighted and an active philanthropist investing in education, healthcare, and sport. He is also distinguished supporter of cricket and nominated as chairman of egypt cricket (under formation) federation/Board (as proposed by CCE)

• Dr. Hatem Amer — Associate Minister of Health & Population for International Relations, instrumental in global public health cooperation.

Timeline of Key Milestones

✅ June 2025 – Proposal Presented & Approved

H.E Dr. Emad Elbannany presented a formal proposal to the board of the General Egyptian Sports for All Federation for establishing the Cricket Committee of Egypt. The board gave in-principle approval for the initiative.

✅ 10th July 2025 – Official Letter of Acceptance Received

The official letter confirming the formation of the Cricket Committee of Egypt under the Sports for All umbrella was received. This marks the official start of a new governing body for cricket in the country.

✅ 10th July 2025 – Strategic Meeting & Roadmap Planning

A 1.5-hour intense meeting was held on the same day with H.E Dr. Emad Elbannany, Mr. Mohammad Arshad Raza, and Mr. Ashish Walia, outlining a clear roadmap for the future of cricket in Egypt. The meeting concluded with a beautiful photo session, capturing a moment of pride and purpose.

✅ Mid-July 2025 – MoU Finalization

Plans were initiated to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Cricket Community in Egypt and the General Egyptian Sports for All Federation to jointly form and operate the Cricket Committee of Egypt with full cooperation and transparency.

✅ End of July 2025 – Appointment of Office Bearers

By the end of July, key office bearers of the Cricket Committee of Egypt will be officially appointed and announced.

✅ August 2025 – Agenda Presentation to Ministry of Youth & Sports

The newly formed Cricket Committee of Egypt will present its official development agenda and cricket roadmap to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to seek formal ministry recognition.

✅ August 2025 – Recognition Process with Ministry

Efforts will be made to complete the recognition of the Cricket Committee of Egypt by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to ensure national-level authority and access to support.

✅ Before 31st August 2025 – Letter of Intent to ICC

The Cricket Committee of Egypt will submit a Letter of Intent to the ICC for affiliate membership, backed by national support and long-term development vision.

✅ September 2025 – ICC/ACA Delegation Visit to Cairo

A high-level delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Association (ACA) will visit Cairo in September 2025.
👉 Their primary purpose is to assess the cricket infrastructure, ecosystem readiness, and institutional support, especially in view of Egypt's ambitious goal to feature in the Africa Games 2027.
This visit is critical to demonstrate that Egypt is ready to host and participate at a continental level.

✅ October 2025 – Mega Cricket Carnival in Cairo

A grand Cricket Carnival will be hosted in October 2025, organized by ICAE/CCE (Cricket Committee of Egypt). This event will unite national clubs, communities, dignitaries, and media, showcasing Egypt’s love for the game and its growing strength on the cricketing map.

✅ November 2025 – ICC Affiliation Documentation Submission

All necessary documentation for ICC affiliate membership will be submitted to the International Cricket Council by November 2025, marking Egypt’s formal step toward global cricket affiliation.

🌍 Vision 2027: Egypt in the Africa Games

With strong backing from Egyptian institutions and international governing bodies, we are aiming to represent Egypt in the Africa Games 2027, making cricket one of the featured sports.
The ICC/ACA delegation visit is a crucial part of this mission—to verify that Egypt has the potential infrastructure and cricket development framework required for such a prestigious event.
