Strengthening Cricket in Egypt: Productive Talks at the Ministry of Youth and Sports
Today, we took a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to strengthen and promote cricket in Egypt. We visited the Ministry of Youth and Sports to secure an appointment for an important meeting between the ICC/ACA delegation and His Excellency Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports. We were warmly received by Dr. Ranya Samy, International Relations Manager, with whom we had a detailed and mature discussion about the current state and future potential of cricket in Egypt. We presented the vision, progress, and roadmap for the sport, including the importance of this delegation’s visit and the overall strategy aligned with Egypt's sporting goals. Dr. Ranya was highly receptive and appreciated the urgency of arranging this meeting, especially considering the upcoming ICC Annual Conference in Singapore, scheduled from 17th to 20th July. We emphasized the need for the appointment to take place between 7th and 9th July, as proposed by the ICC/ACA delegation, to ensure Egypt’s presence and preparedness on the global stage of cricket development. The discussion was not only fruitful but also encouraging, showing signs of a shared commitment to developing cricket in Egypt as a recognized and structured sport under national oversight. This initiative would not have moved forward without the dedicated efforts of Mr. Mohamed Ishraque and Mr. Khan, who were both present today and played an active role in explaining the cricket landscape, its growth, and the opportunities ahead for Egypt. We are hopeful that this engagement will lead to a confirmed meeting with His Excellency Dr. Ashraf Sobhi and open new doors for cricket’s inclusion in Egypt’s national sports framework. Stay tuned as we continue working hard to build a bright future for cricket in Egypt.
